unfurling out of sleep
i reach out a hand

cuddle into
the ghost of you

only to find
a universe
of burnt out stars
and fallen sighs
that occupied your space

i’m struggling
to hold you
in this emptiness

i’m already missing you

so much
i look for lost
heart beats
to keep
safe and treasured

amongst the memory
of kisses
before
i open my eyes
i start to count
the hours

and the minutes in-between when

i will become
